Bernard Standish completed Articles of Clerkship with Phillips Fox, Solicitors, in Brisbane at the beginning of 1993.  Within a short time, he embarked on a career in Criminal Law by joining the firm Michael Powell & Company in Cairns in Far North Queensland.  After several years, he was recruited as a senior defence lawyer by Legal Aid Queensland.  In late 1999, he relocated to the ACT where he became a prosecutor with the ACT Director of Public Prosecutions.  In mid 2006, he moved to the Republic of Vanuatu to act as a Senior Adviser to the Vanuatu Government lawyers as part of an AusAID project designed to increase the capacity of the legal sector in that country.  Upon the completion of that project, he moved to Western Australia to take up a position as a Senior State Prosecutor with the WA Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.  On 1 May 2018, he commenced practice as a Barrister specialising in Criminal Law at Albert Wolff Chambers. 

In over 25 years of practice, Bernard Standish has appeared in a vast number of trials in all jurisdictions, at sentencing hearings and appeals and as Counsel Assisting the ACT Coroner.  He has prepared numerous written advices and court submissions. 

Bernard Standish is available to appear in all Courts in Western Australia.
