Simon Freitag SC practices exclusively in criminal law. He joined the Bar in 2003 after working as a criminal defence lawyer with the Aboriginal Legal Service and took Silk in 2017.

Since his admission in 1999, Simon has appeared as Counsel in Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts covering matters at all levels of complexity. He is now regularly briefed to appear in serious matters such as homicide, serious sex and drugs matters and appeals in criminal cases to the Court of Appeal.

Whilst working primarily as Defence Counsel, Simon also acts as Counsel on behalf of the State DPP and Police Prosecuting from time to time.

In addition to criminal law practice, Simon also sits on the Legal Practice Board (WA) Admissions Committee and often presents Continuing Professional Development seminars on the criminal law for members of the legal profession.
