Guy Stubbs was born and educated in Western Australia. From 1990, he was a partner of Dwyer Durack,  Dwyer Durack and Gadens Lawyers and from July 2006 to June 2008 a director of Dwyers Legal Pty Ltd.  He resigned his directorship in June 2008 and worked as a consultant and in-house counsel until July 2009.

He is a trial and appeal advocate, having appeared as counsel in numerous trials and appeals in tribunals and courts including the High Court of Australia, District Court and Supreme Court of Western Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, AAT and SAT.

He was managing partner of Dwyer Durack for a number of years and implemented several IT systems, including practice management systems and automation within Dwyer Durack. Guy designed and implemented the firm's intranet system and designed and implemented databases for use in litigation projects.
